Bring back the old special keys view in Hexagon mode

I very much like Hexagon mode. As someone who often uses special keys in passwords and while writing with colleagues and friends, I very much liked the condensed view that Hexagon mode gave for special keys.
Now it's this strange scrollable thing that's no longer fun to use or convenient.
Can we please have it back, at least as an optional feature?
