Split hex keyboard left and right in portrait mode

When I hold my pixel xl 4 my thumbs are left and right of the screen midway between to and bottom of the screen. Typing with the hex keyboard at the bottom of the screen risks dropping the phone.

Suggestion: split the hex keyboard left and right so the keys are under each thumb in portrait mode. This arrangement reduces the risk of dropping the phone.

Typewise conveniently does this in landscape mode already.
